5 Biggest Changes to the 2018 Ford F-150

2018 Ford F-150 Changes

It’s time again for vehicle updates. Some vehicles change completely while others just have a few modifications for the next year. There have been several changes made to the 2018 Ford F-150, and not all are noticable at first glance.

Let’s take a closer look at this truck and see what Ford has done to update it for 2018.

Front and Rear-End Exterior Enhancements

The F-150 has a fresh new face with a new grille for the 2018 year. This truck has a new two-bar grille that was inspired by the Super Duty truck lineup. There are different varieties of this grille depending on the trim level you choose, but this feature gives the truck a shiny new look.

The headlights have also been changed slightly with the turn signal in-between the LED wrapped high-and low-beams. On the back of the truck, the taillights have been updated as well. The shape is similar, but the LED lights now wrap around the high-and-low beam lights separately.

The rear of the vehicle also has some updates. There will be a new F-150 graphic stamped into the metal of the tailgate on some of the trim levels. Then for the higher-trim versions, there will be a new horizontal applique for the tailgate.

Engine Updates and First Diesel Option

Under the hood, the F-150 is also experiencing some updates. For the 2018 model, the F-150 will offer the first diesel engine option. This diesel option will be a turbo-diesel 3.0-liter V6 engine.

The gasoline-powered engines will be updated as well. There will be a new 3.3-liter V6 which will replace the 3.5-liter engine from previous years. The other gasoline options, the 2.7-liter V6 and the naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8, will be revised from previous years to give you more power and more torque. However, the specifics aren’t available yet.

Interior and Tech Upgrades

Next, let’s take a look at the inside. In the interior, Ford is looking to step up their tech game both with added entertainment and safety.

This vehicle’s interior will have some updated features like the Bang & Olufsen Stereo System. Bang & Olufsen systems are usually found in European luxury cars, so this high-end system will be a cool new feature for F-150 drivers. Also, on the entertainment front, the F-150 will now offer a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot to keep you connected while you’re on the road.

Ford has also updated some safety features like the adaptive cruise control. This feature existed before, but now it is more powerful. The adaptive cruise control can now bring the vehicle to a complete stop instead of shutting off at around 12 miles per hour. The F-150 will also have an updated forward-collision-warning system. This system will now be able to sense pedestrians instead of just larger objects like vehicles.

There are some exciting new updates in the 2018 F-150 like the new diesel engine option and the new technology available in this truck. Be sure to check out the 2018 F-150 soon!
