2018 Ford Focus Trim Comparison

Ford Focus Trim Comparison

The Ford Focus is a compact car known for its impressive fuel efficiency and great handling. There is a lot to love about the Ford Focus and that is why it’s a popular vehicle in the compact car segment.

The 2018 Ford Focus does have six trim options, however, so that can make deciding on which Focus you want a bit more challenging. Below, we will break down the specifics of each trim level so you can decide which 2018 Ford Focus is for you!

S

The Ford Focus S is the entry level trim. The 2018 version starts off at $17,860. The trim level does not have a hatchback option, it just has the sedan. This sedan comes with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and a five-speed manual transmission.

This base trim, does give you some technology included. You will get a 4.2-inch infotainment display with Ford’s SYNC infotainment system. The S trim level also gives you Bluetooth, voice recognition, a rearview camera, two USB ports and a four-speaker audio system. For the base level trim, the 2018 Ford Focus offers a lot of standard technology.

SE

The SE trim level is different from the S in several ways. For one, this trim level has the option of the sedan or the hatchback. The SE sedan will cost you $19,150, and this sedan has a three-cylinder engine. This three-cylinder engine doesn’t give you a lot for power, but it is the most impressive engine option for fuel efficiency on the Focus. On the other hand, the hatchback costs you $20,445 and it has a four-cylinder engine.

As far as the upgrades for features and technology, the SE trim has cruise control, satellite radio and a six-speaker audio system. You will also get rear-seat heat vents and a center armrest with storage in the SE trim level.

SEL

The SEL is the first trim level to see the upgraded infotainment system. On the 2018 Ford Focus SEL, you get the SYNC 3 infotainment system. This system comes with an 8-inch touchscreen, smartphone integration, a 10-speaker audio system and HD Radio. You also get added luxury in the SEL with dual-zone climate control and a moonroof. An automatic transmission and rear parking sensors can also be found the Focus SEL.

As far as price goes, the SEL is priced at $21,775 for the sedan and $21,975 for the hatchback version of this vehicle. The SEL gives you a big step up in technology at a very reasonable price.

Titanium

The Titanium is the next trim level option on the 2018 Ford Focus. Where the SEL stepped up in technology, the Titanium includes that technology, but steps up in luxury. The price of this vehicle starts at $24,175 for the sedan and $24,375 for the hatchback, but the price is well worth the added features.

The 2018 Ford Focus Titanium gives you leather seats with an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat to add to your comfort. You also get heated front seats, leather trim on the shift knob, a heated steering wheel and a rear-seat center armrest. The Titanium also comes with a proximity key and push-button start.

ST

The next two trim levels, the ST and the RS, are the performance trim level options. These vehicles give you an exciting performance in a neat Ford Hatchback package. The 2018 Ford Focus ST has a turbocharged 2.0-liter I-4 EcoBoost engine with a high performance suspension. This engine gives you 252-horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque.

The ST also gives you a sport style with features like its bright-tipped center-exit exhaust. This trim level also has features like AdvanceTrac electronic stability control, heated steering wheel and front seats and ST badging on the inside.

The added performance, luxury and sport style of the 2018 Focus ST, does give it a higher price than the previous trim levels. The ST starts at an MSRP of $31,660. This is a good price considering all the added performance and style you get with the ST.

RS

The 2018 Ford Focus RS is for those looking for performance and fun. This is also the last model year for the RS, so Ford pulled out all the stops. This vehicle has a turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine that gives you 350-horsepower. You also get a sport suspension system, sport exhaust with dual bright tips, trim specific drive modes and Recaro leather trimmed seats.

There will also be a new body color option on the 2018 RS: Race Red. You can also get it in Nitrous Blue. Other cosmetic upgrades include a gloss-black roof, spoiler and mirror caps as well as the RS logos on the side wings.

Since this is the last year for the RS, the 2018 Focus RS is a limited edition model. This does mean the price will be a little higher. The 2018 Ford Focus RS comes in at a price of $41,995. This is the most expensive Ford Focus trim level, but it does offer the most in terms of performance and features.

Which Trim Level is Right for You?

That choice is entirely up to you. The S is your cheapest Focus, but it still gives you great fuel efficiency and good technology. You have to get at least the SE trim level to get the hatchback option. The SEL is a big step up in technology with the latest infotainment system. The Titanium offers additional luxury for those drives. The ST and RS are your performance vehicles. The ST gives you 252-horsepower and the RS gives you 350-horsepower.

What part of the Focus is most important to you? If it’s performance you should look at the ST or RS. If it’s fuel efficiency the SE might be for you. If its technology or luxury look into the SEL and the Titanium.

Take your time and decide which factors are most important to you and that will help you find your perfect trim level.
