Ford Announces Electric Bike
The Ford Motor Company has announced a new electric bike to make commuting easier than ever! The Ford MoDe: Flex smartbike will feature an electric motor as well as pedals to allow you to bike to work without getting sweaty. In keeping with Ford’s emphasis on technology, this is truly a “smartbike” that is capable of detecting potholes and making the handlebars vibrate to warn the rider about the upcoming hazard. The smartbike will interact with your smartphone, allowing you to set up a “no sweat” mode which makes it so you barely have to pedal to get where you are going. Or you can pedal to your heart’s content. The best part, though, is that the Mode: Flex is designed to fit in the trunk of every single Ford vehicle. Thanks to its brilliant design, this smartbike can be broken down into two pieces and comfortably stored in the trunk of a Ford Focus.

2016 Ford Explorer Coming to NH
The 2016 Ford Explorer is coming to Irwin Ford in Laconia, NH! The 2016 Explorer will feature a newly refreshed, upscale cabin and an all-new 2.3L EcoBoost engine available in both the FWD and AWD configurations. The new 2.3L EcoBoost delivers 280 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque, and is an improvement over the outgoing 2.0L EcoBoost (which was only available on the FWD configuration anyway). The 2.3L EcoBoost will provide only 20 horsepower less than the naturally aspirated 3.5L V6, while providing 45 additional lb-ft of torque!
Improved driver aids and safety features provide additional peace of mind while traveling in comfort and style. Front and rear-view cameras with wide-angle lenses provide exceptional visibility, while handy features like perpendicular and park-out assists and semi-automatic parallel parking make parking easier than ever.
Another new addition to the 2016 model year is the top-end Platinum trim level. When you buy a 2016 Ford Explorer Platinum, you can expect nothing less than the best. There are three configurable versions of all screens; Daytime, Nighttime, and Auto. Daytime is brighter and more colorful, whereas Nighttime has a darker background to prevent any distracting glare when driving at night. Auto, as its name suggests, will alternate between Daytime and Nighttime based on the light level in the car.

2016 Lincoln MKX
The 2016 Lincoln MKX is coming to Irwin Ford Lincoln, your Laconia NH Lincoln dealer since 1951. This luxurious SUV will be a testament to quality engineering and premium materials. The amount of technological innovation that has gone into the 2016 Lincoln MKX is truly breath-taking.
One of the most exciting new features include a 360-degree camera that provides a bird’s eye view of the area surrounding your MKX. This is achieved by combining four different cameras, one in the front fascia under the Lincoln star badge, one on each side mirror, and the rear view camera. And the yes, the forward-facing camera under the Lincoln badge is literally under the badge; the badge actually slides up to expose the camera when the 360-degree system is in use. The design team who came up with this revolutionary concept added that they love the “James Bond” feel of having high-tech accessories hidden in the car. And to add another layer of over-the-top luxurious technology, the front-facing camera has a self-cleaning system under the Lincoln badge to keep the lens crystal clear at all times.
As far as the sound system, all 2016 Lincoln vehicles will feature Revel Audio, a division of Harmon that was designed exclusively for the Lincoln Motor Company. You won’t find Revel anywhere else; it is committed to a 10-year exclusive partnership with Lincoln. Revel was designed to provide a luxurious feel and premium product. Kevin Voecks, Founder of Revel Audio, called Revel, “a clear channel between the artist and your ears.”
Revel Ultima, the highest end Revel, will be standard on all Black Label Lincoln vehicles. Revel Ultima will feature 19 speakers and a subwoofer, as well as a personalized audio system that allows you to adjust the sound to your exact specifications. There is a setting called “Audience” that makes it sound as if you are right there in the concert hall. Even more exciting is another setting called “Onstage” that makes it sound as if you are actually on stage with the musicians. Revel will be uniquely calibrated for every Lincoln product, so the calibration on an MKX will be specific to an MKX, while the MKS, MKZ, MKC, and MKT will all have their own specific calibrations based on cabin design.
Even the seats have been redesigned. The Lincoln Motor Company started with the question, “How do you make the seat personal to the driver?” The result of this query is a 22-way seat with active motion that includes power thigh extensions and power headrests to accommodate a range of body sizes. The massage features keep you relaxed on long trips, while the heated and cooled leather seats will provide the over-the-top comfort you expect from a premium luxury brand like Lincoln. The end result is ease of operation combined with a luxurious seat to deliver a premium driving experience.
The 2016 Lincoln MKX has a more modern interior with an all-new wheel, modified center console, and improved wood and aluminum decorative materials. The 2016 MKX has two available V6 engines. The first is a naturally-aspirated 3.7L V6 which produces 300 horsepower and 221-ft-lb of torque. The second is a Ti-VCT EcoBoost 2.7L V6 with twin turbochargers. This turbocharged motor, although smaller, cranks out a whopping 330 horsepower and 369 ft-lb of torque! How To Tell When It’s Time for a Tune-Up
Routine maintenance is the best way to keep your vehicle running properly for as long as possible. By following the service schedule in your owner’s manual, you can save yourself costly repairs and headaches down the road. Vehicles are complicated pieces of machinery, but knowing when it’s time for a tune-up doesn’t have to be.
First and foremost, be sure to follow your oil change schedule. The motor oil is what keeps your engine running smoothly and you want to be sure that oil is clean! Over time, motor oil becomes dirty and begins to break down. If you wait long enough, it turns into what the technicians in the shop refer to as “sludge.” Dirty motor oil can and will damage your engine, the most expensive part of your whole vehicle. Luckily, the oil change schedule can be found in your owner’s manual, and once your oil has been changed, the technicians put a helpful reminder sticker on your windshield indicating when you need to have your car service again.
Your spark plugs should also be changed on a regular schedule found in your owner’s manual. That being said, there are a few telltale signs that you made need to change your spark plugs ahead of schedule.
If your vehicle has a rough idle, you may need to change your spark plugs. When you vehicle is stationary with the engine running, the engine should produce a smooth, constant sound. A rough, jittery idle can be indicative that the spark plugs are not functioning properly.
If your vehicle is not starting up right away, it may be that your battery is low, or it may also be that your spark plugs are not providing the spark needed to get the engine turning.
A faulty spark plug can cause the engine to misfire, meaning that at least one of the cylinders is not firing properly. A misfiring engine is not only jerky and unpleasant to drive; it also produces higher amounts of emissions, and can cause your vehicle to fail a state inspection.
Another sign of spark plugs that need to be changed is lack of acceleration. This is very easy to notice. You will put your foot down on the gas and the vehicle either does not respond at all, or it responds more slowly than usual. On a related note, because the engine is not running at peak efficiency, you will notice that you are going through gasoline faster than usual. Replacing the spark plugs will keep your engine running smoothly and efficiently.

Irwin Ford was once again chosen by the Ford Motor Company as one of a limited number of national dealers to host the semi-annual Drive4URSchool fundraising event. On Wednesday, March 20th, Irwin Ford hosted this even at Laconia High School to raise money for the sophomore and junior classes. Under the Drive4URSchool program, members of the community meet at a local high school to test drive a new Ford vehicle. For each household that takes a test drive, Ford donates $20 to the school, up to $6,000.

Lincoln Continental coming to Laconia New Hampshire
The Lincoln Continental coming to Laconia New Hampshire and will be available for sale at Irwin Lincoln.
Lincoln just unveiled the Continental Concept car to an enthusiastic critical reception in New York this weekend. Mark Fields, President and CEO of Ford Motor Company, said that the Continental “signals the future of what we call quiet luxury.” Having replaced the split-wing grille with a centerpiece reminiscent of a Bentley, the Continental exudes an air of quiet good taste and an appreciation of quality. The rear of the car features a wide stance for a smooth, confident ride (the Continental is rumored to by rear-wheel drive) and “light through chrome technology” lamps which appear chrome when not illuminated.
But it is the interior of this luxury sedan that really shines. The Continental will feature power 30-way seats, tray tables, a champagne storage compartment, and detachable leather travel cases which are handmade from Venetian leather. Venetian leather is also used on the seats and door panels, while the headliner is made of satin and the carpet is made of wool.

Ford Performance Group
Ford has united several of its specialty design teams to form team dedicated to producing high-powered specialty vehicles. This move began last year by combining the global Ford Racing unit with Europe’s Team RS and North America’s Special Vehicle Team. Dave Pericak, head of Ford Performance said, “By putting them all under one umbrella, we’re going to be much more efficient.”
The new team, called Ford Performance, is dedicated solely to producing exciting new offerings like the GT supercar, which made a big splash in January when It was unveiled at the Detroit auto show. The GT supercar is powered by a V6 EcoBoost engine and will be included in Ford Performance’s lineup along with other high-powered rides like the Mustang Shelby GT 350 and Gt 350R, Focus ST, Focus RS, and F-150 Raptor.
The Focus RS will arrive in the US at the end of 2015. It will be powered by a 2.3L EcoBoost engine that will produce over 320 horsepower and will have all-wheel drive. The all-wheel drive system will include the “torque vectoring” system similar to that found in high-end Range Rovers, and drastically improves cornering ability.
Ford Performance’s push to produce more vehicles stems from the fact that since 2009, the market for performance models has grown 70% in the US. Whether it is a Focus ST, Fiesta ST, or the F-150 Raptor, American consumers have been being faster, more powerful, more exciting vehicles.
